ABC Members Invest $1.6 Billion in Construction Education
Associated Builders and Contractors member contractors invested $1.6 billion to provide more than 1.3 million course attendees with craft, leadership and safety education in 2021, according to its 2022 Workforce Development Survey, up from $1.3 billion in 2020. The annual assessment quantifies the scope of ABC members’ workforce development initiatives to advance its employees’ careers in commercial and industrial construction to build the places where Americans live, work, learn, heal and play. S. M. Wilson & Co. Promotes Jeremy Hutfles to Assistant Superintendent
S. M. Wilson has promoted Jeremy Hutfles to assistant superintendent. In his new role, Hutfles coordinates and manages all day-to-day onsite operations, coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers, and communicates with owners and architects. Hutfles is working on the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Nursing project. He will be onsite during the entire construction phase. Hutfles joined S. M. Wilson last year and has over 17 years of experience in construction. Most recently, he was assigned to the Target remodel in Jefferson City, Missouri. He is OSHA certified in 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health for Construction Industry.
2022 World of Modular Returns in Hybrid Fashion
After being all-digital in 2021 due to COVID concerns, the Modular Building Institute’s 2022 World of Modular conference and tradeshow returned and attracted over 1,000 in-person and digital attendees from more than 20 countries. U.S. Department of Labor Initiatives Promote ‘Safety’ of Industry Workers’ Wages, Employer Compliance
With many projects supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law gaining speed across the nation as temperatures rise and the ground softens, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division is showing its commitment to ensuring the safety of workers’ wages during the annual celebration of National Construction Safety Week, May 2-6.
