BOONTON, N.J., Phelps Construction Group has completed a project for the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. to build expanded galleries for the newly renamed Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island in New York harbor. The Peopling of America Center, opening to the public Wednesday, May 20, is a major expansion of the previously existing exhibit area that focuses on the Ellis Island era from 1892-1954. DES MOINES, Iowa — Ryan Companies U.S., Inc. has been selected as general contractor for Kum & Go's new 120,000-square-foot corporate headquarters, associated parking structure and mixed-use project in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The $54-million project is situated on approximately two city blocks adjacent to Western Gateway Park and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park. ALACHUA, Fla. — NCCER and its Build Your Future initiative have recently partnered with The Associated General Contractors of America and its AGC Education and Research Foundation to create a national BYF scholarship program for deserving individuals pursuing a career in construction through craft and technical programs. Architecture Billings Index Accelerates in March
WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the second consecutive month, the Architecture Billings Index indicated a modest increase in design activity in March. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate 9-12 month lead time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the March ABI score was 51.7, up from a mark of 50.4 in February. This score reflects an increase in design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 58.2, up from a reading of 56.6 the previous month.
