ALBANY, N.Y. — State University of New York and the State University Construction Fund have selected Gilbane Building Company, in a joint venture with The LiRo Group, to provide construction management services for the New School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences project at the University at Buffalo. Designed by HOK, the $375-million medical school is designed to connect approximately 2,000 students, faculty, biomedical researchers and clinicians with classrooms, bedside patient care and lab environments. Korte to Construct $16.7M Las Vegas Army Reserve Center
The Korte Company was selected, along with its joint-venture partner, MACNAK, for the construction of a 300-member Army Reserve Center. The MACNAK Korte Team LLC will begin construction of the ARC in October. When completed, the ARC will include a 37,000-square-foot training building, a 21,000-square-foot area maintenance support activity / organizational maintenance shop and approximately 4,100 square feet of unheated storage. The ARC site will be located just south of Las Vegas, Nev.

Construction Employment Hits All-time High
Construction employment increased in a majority of states in May, setting all-time highs in Louisiana and North Dakota, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of Labor Department data.
