Nonresidential Construction Index Continues to Rise

RALEIGH, N.C. — FMI, provider of management consulting and investment banking to the engineering and construction industry, announced the release of The 2013 First Quarter Nonresidential Construction Index report. The NRCI of 58.1 is a 2.6-point improvement over the fourth quarter of 2012. The improvement reflects fundamental bright spots in the economy. “Optimistic but not bullish” is the way one panelist described his outlook on hiring for his company in 2013. Construction Spending Declines in January, Gains Year-Over-Year

Construction spending snapped a nine-month string of monthly gains with a sharp decline in January but still rose from year-ago levels, according to an analysis of new Census Bureau data by the Associated General Contractors of America. Ramtech Completes New Modular Building Project in Texas

Design-build commercial modular construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, Texas has completed the installation of three new modular buildings for First Baptist Church Frisco, located in Frisco, Texas. The 23,386-square-foot project includes a 6,750-square-foot middle school student worship center with a 13-foot-high-vaulted ceiling and 12 fellowship classrooms.   The other two facilities include an 8,060-square-foot 14-classroom adult education facility with a fellowship area, and an 8,576-square-foot building with six classrooms and 14 private offices with adjacent administrative support areas for the ministry staff. OSHA Schedules Special Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will hold a special meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health March 18 in Washington, D.C. ACCSH will consider a proposed rule to update OSHA's standard on accident prevention signs and tags in construction. The standard requires that signs and symbols be visible at all times to warn workers of existing hazards when work is being performed.
