Exports of U.S.-Made Construction Equipment Grew 13% in 2012

Exports of U.S.-made construction equipment topped 13 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year for a total $26.7 billion, with South America and Asia reporting the weakest gains, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, citing U.S. Department of Commerce data it uses in global markets reports for members. Brasfield & Gorrie to Begin Construction on Burton Hills Office Building

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Brasfield & Gorrie was recently announced as the general contractor on the Burton Hills office building project in Green Hills. The three-story, 110,000-square-foot office building will sit atop a three-story, below-grade, 331-space parking deck. Suffolk Completes Construction of $400M Facility at UMass Med School

BOSTON, Mass. — Suffolk Construction, a   construction management firm, recently completed construction of the $400-million Albert Sherman Center, a 512,000-square-foot biomedical research and education facility located on the University of Massachusetts Medical School campus in Worcester, Mass. Strong Surge for Architecture Billings Index

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the prognosis for the design and construction industry continues to improve, the Architecture Billings Index is reflecting its strongest growth since November 2007.   As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine- to twelve-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending.   The American Institute of Architects reported the January ABI score was 54.2, up sharply from a mark of 51.2* in December.   This score reflects a strong increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).   The new projects inquiry … Read more
