ASCC Initiates Mentoring Program

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Emerging Leaders Committee of the American Society of Concrete Contractors, St. Louis, Missouri, has initiated a mentoring program for its contractor and associate members. “The program seeks to unite seasoned concrete construction professionals with members of lesser experience in a guided program to share knowledge and expertise,” says Greg Hyde, Hyde Concrete, and an EL Committee member. USGBC Publishes New LEED Resilience Pilot Credits; Incorporates NRMCA Proposals

SILVERSPRING, Md. — After years of advocating by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and other key stakeholder groups, the U.S. Green Building Council has adopted LEED pilot credits that provide incentives for design teams to plan, design and build for resilience. NRMCA had proposed a pilot credit in September 2013 and was connected with another group headed by Alex Wilson of the Resilient Design Institute, a longtime resiliency advocate who had submitted a pilot credit with similar goals. AIA Expands Portfolio with Launch of New Contract Documents

The American Institute of Architects launched new contract documents. These include a new owner/consultant agreement, as well as six new administrative forms for use on design-build projects. The C103—2015, Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Consultant without a Predefined Scope of Consultant’s Services establishes expectations between an owner and consultant on a project. This agreement contains basic business terms related to copyrights and licenses, claims and disputes, termination or suspension and compensation. OSHA Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health to Meet, Seeks Nominations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health will meet in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 1-2 for updates and discussions with agency officials.
