AIA Addresses Changing Landscape of Building Information Modeling with Updated Digital Practice Documents

WASHINGTON, D. C. — Building Information Modeling has changed the way construction industry participants interact with each other and communicate internally. Project plans have moved beyond two-dimensional design to multi-dimensional models that have parametric capabilities. The American Institute of Architects is continuously evaluating the development and adoption of BIM and the impact it has on contractual relationships. AIA Releases Latest Architecture Billings Index

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Architecture Billings Index saw more poor conditions last month, indicating a drop in design activity at U.S. architecture firms, and suggesting upcoming weakness in spending on nonresidential construction projects. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine- to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the June ABI score was 45.9, nearly identical to the mark of 45.8 in May. WASHINGTON, D.C. —Following the first negative reading in five months, the Architecture Billings Index has had a significant drop in May.  As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the May ABI score was 45.8, following a mark of 48.4 in April. This score reflects a sharp decrease in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).
