JE Dunn to Renovate Atlanta Middle School Building

ATLANTA, Ga. – Atlanta Public Schools has selected JE Dunn Construction to convert an existing middle school to a new elementary school—Harper-Archer Elementary— for the school system’s Douglass Cluster of geographically close elementary, middle and high schools. The $7.8-million renovation will cover approximately 140,000 square feet. Improvements will include reconfigurations of select classrooms to support elementary instructional programs, select upgrades to interior finishes and modifications to HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Groundbreaking Held for Brethen Tower

DAYTON, Ohio — A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for Brethen Tower at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio. The tower will be more than 100 feet tall and hold the historic Callahan clock, which dates to 1892. Woolpert is providing the civil and structural engineering for the tower, Roll & Associates is providing the code review and architectural support services and Brackett Builders is the contractor. The LiRo Group, serving as construction manager in a joint venture with Gilbane Building Company, architect HOK and general contractor LPCiminelli, have completed the new, ultra-modern building for the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, New York. At 628,000 square feet, it is the largest recently constructed medical education building in the United States, and the largest new building to have been erected in downtown Buffalo in decades. Construction Begins on Ally Charlotte Center

General contractor Brasfield & Gorrie is beginning construction on one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s most anticipated mixed-use projects, Ally Charlotte Center. Developed by Crescent Communities, this uptown property will house Ally Financial as its anchor tenant. Crews have mobilized on the project to construct a 26-story, 742,000-square-foot office tower, as well as an eight-story parking deck. Both the AZ (Anatomy/Zoology) Addition and the JBS Global Food Innovation Center in Honor of Gary and Kay Smith celebrated topping outs – the last piece of structural steel being placed and symbolizing the halfway point of the project.
