MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Rochester Fire Station No. 2 open house was Thursday, Oct. 15 at the new fire station in northeast Rochester, Minnesota. The new fire station, built by Knutson Construction, provides the Rochester Fire Department with a new 31,000-square-foot facility and is replacing the fire station previously located near Silver Lake, Minnesota. The new station includes a dispatch center, emergency operations center, office space and a communications room. Construction Unemployment Falls to Lowest September Mark in 15 Years

The number of unemployed workers with construction experience dropped to the lowest total for September since 2000, as hiring continued to slow despite robust demand for construction, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Mortenson Construction Begins Construction on the Largest Wind Farm in Nebraska

Mortenson Construction has begun construction on the Grande Prairie Wind Project located in Holt County, Nebraska. Owned by BHE Renewables, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, the 400 megawatt project will be the largest wind energy project in the state’s history. Mortenson’s scope of work will include the erection of 200 Vestas V110 turbines and the engineering, procurement and construction of foundations, access roads, underground collection systems, two substations and a transmission line. The new Charles Schwab Austin Campus will be built in two phases. The first phase consists of renovating the existing six-story 191,000-square-foot office building.
