A topping out ceremony was recently held for the $450-million care tower on the campus of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The milestone event signifies the completion of the structural framework of the 350,000-square-foot building. Over the past 17 months, hundreds of construction workers, putting in more than 268,000 work hours, placed more than 2,200 tons of reinforcing steel into more than 19,200 cubic yards of concrete, which is equivalent to around 1,920 truckloads, to complete the structure of the building. International Dark Sky Discovery Center Breaks Ground in Fountain Hills

The International Dark Sky Discovery Center broke ground on its new observatory in Fountain Hills, Arizona, in sync with the solar eclipse on April 8. The new observatory was designed by SWABACK Architects + Planners and is being built by McCarthy Building Companies. The $25 million, 23,000-square-foot facility will encompass a 27.5-inch PlaneWave telescope, housed within its 20.5-foot domed observatory, along with a 65-seat planetarium. Graduate Auburn Hotel in Auburn, Alabama recently celebrated structural completion of the project with a topping out ceremony. The five-story, 177-room, nearly 140,000-square-foot hotel has direct views of Auburn’s campus and Toomer’s Corner.
