The U.S. Green Building Council announced the ranking of its annual Top 10 States for LEED, with Illinois once again topping the list and demonstrating leadership in green building. Illinois certified 3.16 square feet of building space per person under LEED in 2021. Development and construction firm Skanska has been selected to construct a central energy plant for Wake Technical Community College’s seventh physical campus, Eastern Wake 4.0, in Wendell, North Carolina. The name Eastern Wake 4.0 denotes the term Industry 4.0, a reference to a fourth industrial revolution with the intelligent networking of machines and processes with information and communications technology. Scott Wilkins has been promoted to senior superintendent at The Christman Company at the contracting firm’s office in Knoxville, Tennessee. Wilkins, who joined Christman in 2019, has 28 years of experience in oversight of large-scale projects, including industrial parks, multi-unit and custom residential and office buildings and municipal and higher education projects. He played a lead role for Christman on a $17.6-million contract for Southwestern Community College in Sylva, North Carolina.
