McShane Completes Adaptive Reuse Construction of Affordable Apartments in Aurora, Illinois

McShane Construction Company completed the construction of Fox Valley Apartments in Aurora, Illinois, on behalf of Housing For All, LLC. in collaboration with Visionary Ventures, Cordogan Clark & Associates, and JTE Real Estate Services. Fox Valley Apartments integrates one new building and two renovated historical school buildings to offer a total of 47 affordable workforce housing units. Located at 641 S. Lake St., McShane remodeled Lincoln Elementary School, a 39,000-square-foot building originally constructed in 1893, to accommodate 14 apartment units. In collaboration with Orange Technical College and architectural firm Harvard Jolly, Gilbane Building Company celebrated the ribbon cutting of the comprehensive renovation project within OTC’s main campus in the heart of Creative Village in Orlando, Florida. This 135,000-square-foot, five-story facility, which had not seen such extensive renovation since its opening in 1981, underwent a complete re-roofing and significant building envelope enhancements. DPR’s Build Up High School Interns Opt for Summer on the Jobsite

DPR Construction has welcomed 38 participants to its Build Up High School Intern Program, the largest cohort since the program began in 2017 and a 42% increase in participation compared to 2023. The program gives eligible high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to spend their summers working side by side with skilled project teams on major construction projects. AIA/Deltek Releases Latest Architecture Billings Index

Business conditions remain soft at architecture firms in June with the AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index reporting a score of 46.4. Any score below 50 indicates that billings decline, although somewhat fewer firms reported a decline in billings in June than in May. Indicators of future work remained generally soft as well: Only slightly more than half of the responding firms reported an increase in inquiries into new work. Firms reported a third consecutive month of decline in value of newly signed design contracts.
