Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Building Seismic Safety Council, the National Institute of Building Sciences recently recognized the leaders who have provided significant direction to the BSSC mission, contributing to its success. The council has coordinated the efforts of federal agencies, the building industry and thousands of subject matter experts to develop 10 editions of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program Recommended Seismic Provisions. Construction Employment Declines, Severe Weather Compounds Falling Demand for Nonresidential Projects, says AGC

Construction employment declined by 61,000 in February, while the sector’s unemployment rate soared to 9.6% amid severe winter weather and continuing weakness in new nonresidential projects, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government data. SEAA Confirms 48th Convention and Trade Show Dates

The Steel Erectors Association of America’s 48th Convention and Trade Show, previously scheduled for April 2021, will take place Oct. 12-14 in Orlando, Florida. The trade show provides erectors and fabricators a chance to see the latest products, services and innovations they need for a safer, more productive work site. To accommodate social distancing and small group engagement, attendees will be split into two groups. Half will visit indoor booths, while half will visit outdoor booths.
