SAN DIEGO, Calif. – BNBuilders, in partnership with Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, has been awarded the new Borrego Springs, California branch library, park and sheriff’s office. The $11.5-million, Design-Build project is designed to celebrate the social and cultural history of the Borrego Springs community and the unique environment of this desert setting. The new project uses Borrego Springs’ status as a Dark Sky Community as inspiration for the design. Highway Construction Project Kicks Off Next Month

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Sundt Construction has been awarded a $25-million contract by the Utah Department of Transportation to complete a highway reconstruction project. The project includes construction of a new bridge over I-215 to create an interchange at Redwood Road and approximately two miles of new concrete pavement on I-215. In addition to the interchange, Sundt will reconstruct one mile of Redwood Road to Center Street and an additional five miles of Redwood will be rehabilitated with new asphalt pavement. Seventy-five percent of construction firms plan to expand their payrolls in 2018 as contractors are optimistic that economic conditions will remain strong as tax rates and regulatory burdens fall, according to survey results released by the Associated General Contractors of America and Sage Construction and Real Estate. Gilbane Building Company Recognized with CCIA Platinum Award for Safety

GLASTONBURY, Conn. – Gilbane Building Company was recently honored with a Platinum Safety Award in Building Construction for overall safety performance over the past three years from the Connecticut Construction Industries Association. This is the highest safety honor awarded by the CCIA. The Platinum Level Safety award is bestowed to only a select few contractors each year. Nonresidential Construction Spending Ticks Higher in November, Down Year-Over-Year, ABC Says

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nonresidential construction spending expanded .6 percent in November, totaling $719.2 billion on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Despite the month-over-month expansion, nonresidential spending fell 1.3 percent from November 2016. Private nonresidential construction spending is down 3.1 percent year-over-year, while public sector spending has increased 1.7 percent over the same period.
