Swinerton Builders, a commercial general contractor, has announced the build-out of Dole Food Company’s new US headquarters in the One South building in Uptown Charlotte. The office construction project is expected to be completed this fall, with construction currently underway. Dole’s new US headquarters occupies the entire sixth floor of One South, a 40-story Class-A office tower. The international company is relocating from an office building just one block away, which it has occupied since moving to Charlotte from California in 2019. Cameratta Companies Begins Development of Kingston Community in Estero

Cameratta Companies has started construction on the new Kingston community that will span in total over 6,702 acres. The first portion of the land to be developed is approximately 2,700 acres of property. Kingston is known to be a conservation restoration project that will transform a distressed and overgrown farmland into a unique community blending environmental preserves with residential neighborhoods and commercial amenities. ABC: Construction Hiring Remains Sluggish in May

The construction industry had 245,000 job openings on the last day of May, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. JOLTS defines a job opening as any unfilled position for which an employer is actively recruiting. Nonresidential Construction Spending Down 0.2% in May, Says ABC

National nonresidential construction spending decreased 0.2% in May, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.237 trillion. Spending was down on a monthly basis in half of the nonresidential subcategories.
