South Coast Improvement Completes Milton Academy Renovations

MILTON, Mass. — South Coast Improvement Company has completed renovation projects at Milton Academy, 170 Centre Street in Milton, Massachusetts. The projects took place at the Athletic and Convocation Center and at the Robert Saltonstall gymnasium. The renovation at the ACC building entailed the conversion of a storage area into two changing areas and a shower room for home and visiting hockey teams. Each changing room included all new electrical, plumbing fixtures and benches, as well as specialized flooring to absorb the impact of hockey skates. Gilbane Awarded Construction of West Virginia University Coliseum Complex

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Gilbane Building Company has been selected by West Virginia University as construction manager for their Coliseum Complex Athletic Project in Morgantown, West Virginia. The coliseum is home to the Mountaineers men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as other athletic programs. The project will include renovations to approximately 188,000 square feet of space including office and administrative spaces, the coliseum concourse, natatorium building and annex and the men’s locker room facilities. USGBC Publishes New LEED Resilience Pilot Credits; Incorporates NRMCA Proposals

SILVERSPRING, Md. — After years of advocating by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and other key stakeholder groups, the U.S. Green Building Council has adopted LEED pilot credits that provide incentives for design teams to plan, design and build for resilience. NRMCA had proposed a pilot credit in September 2013 and was connected with another group headed by Alex Wilson of the Resilient Design Institute, a longtime resiliency advocate who had submitted a pilot credit with similar goals.
