Hensel Phelps’ Mid-Atlantic district office was recently awarded Phase 1 of the Constitution Gardens rehabilitation project on behalf of the Trust for the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Trust for the National Mall operates as a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service and will wholly fund and manage the project. The Constitution Gardens project is a 38-acre site located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., bordered by Constitution Avenue, the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. June Construction Starts Retreat 15%

NEW YORK, N.Y. — New construction starts in June dropped 15 percent from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $620.2 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. The decline followed an especially strong May, which benefitted from a $9-billion liquefied natural gas export terminal in Texas being entered as a May start. Turner Construction Company announced that the second quarter 2015 Turner Building Cost Index — which measures costs in the non-residential building construction market in the United States — has increased to a value of 938. This reflects a 1.19 percent increase from the First Quarter 2015 and a 4.69 percent yearly increase from the second quarter 2014.
