Clark to Build East County Detention Center

INDIO, Calif. — Clark has been awarded a $274-million contract by The County of Riverside Economic Development Agency to build the East County Detention Center in Indio, California. Clark will construct a 500,000-square-foot detention center to expand and replace the existing Indio county jail and riverside sheriff’s department. The new facility will be constructed in two phases and will result in a 1,626-bed facility. Construction Spending in May Reaches Highest Level Since 2008

Construction spending climbed in May to the highest level since October 2008, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Sluggish U.S. Construction Industry Shows No Signs of Momentum

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Rider Levett Bucknall reports that the mainland U.S. construction industry continued its slow growth forward in the last quarter, with no signs of gaining momentum. The report also states that activity for construction put-in-place increased just 1.7 percent above June 2014 figures while the unemployment rate for construction laborers increased during the same period, falling to 7.5 percent in April 2015.
