OSHA Releases New Resources to Better Protect Workers from Hazardous Chemicals

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Each year in the United States, tens of thousands of workers are made sick or die from occupational exposures to the thousands of hazardous chemicals that are used in workplaces every day. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched two new web resources to assist companies to help keep workers safe. While many chemicals are suspected of being harmful, OSHA's exposure standards are out-of-date and inadequately protective for the small number of chemicals that are regulated in the workplace. Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions to Develop Housing at University of Reno, Nevada

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions, LLC, announced that it has reached financial close on a new graduate and family student housing project at the University of Nevada, Reno. Balfuor Beatty and its partners will design, build and finance the approximately $22-million development, which has already commenced with demolition activity and is expected to open in August 2014. Architecture Billings Index Surges Higher

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Showing a steady increase in the demand for design services, the Architecture Billings Index continues to accelerate, as it reached its second highest level of the year. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate 9-12 month lead time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the September ABI score was 54.3, up from a mark of 53.8 in August.   This score reflects an increase in design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). Bencardino Excavating Hired By A.T. Chadwick to Work on Temple University Expansion Project

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Bencardino Excavating has begun work on an expansion project of Temple University’s research building at 12th and Norris Streets in North Philadelphia.
