Construction employment expanded in 278 metro areas, declined in 36 and was stagnant in 44 between February 2014 and February 2015, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Construction spending inched down in February from January levels but increased from a year earlier, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. PHOENIX, Ariz. — Rider Levett Bucknall reports that construction costs continue to rise nationwide, in part, because the overall U.S. construction industry in 2015 is smaller than it was prior to 2008 when the recession began. Construction firms added jobs in 45 states and the District of Columbia between February 2014 and February 2015 while construction employment increased in 33 states between January and February, according to a recent analysis of Labor Department data by the Associated General Contractors of America.
