McCarthy Awarded West-MEC Southwest Campus Project in Arizona

McCarthy recently began a $50-million new construction project, including site plan and infrastructure layout, for Western Maricopa Education Center in conjunction with architect DLR Group. The West-MEC Southwest Campus project, which will be located at I-10 and Verrado Way in Buckeye, Arizona, will eventually serve 650 students in 12-14 different programs (including secondary education, post-secondary education and industry training). Level 10 Construction Selected as General Contractor for Higher Education Projects

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Mike Conroy, vice president of operations for Level 10 Construction's San Diego, California's office, announced the company has been named general contractor for two projects at the University of San Diego and one project at the University of California, San Diego. The two USD projects include remodeling the Manchester Conference Center and a major alteration of Loma Hall, home to the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering. FMI Warns Craft Labor Shortage May Slow Construction

RALEIGH, N.C. — Surveying members of the Construction Personnel Executives Group, FMI reports, “24 percent of respondents will be unable to bid more work and 32 percent will experience slow growth if their companies cannot reasonably meet the need for skilled labor and tradespeople.” Top executives at the largest contract firms in the U.S. took part in the survey. “Overall, there's an increase needed in skilled trade workers of more than 10 percent throughout the next three to 10 years,” says Ken Wilson, director for FMI, citing highlights from survey participants.
