Industry educators, engineers, researchers and scientists have an ideal opportunity to share their knowledge with peers worldwide during the IFPE 2014 exposition.   IFPE has issued a “call for abstracts” for presentations in its signature education programs. Construction Materials Prices Increase

Prices for construction materials moved higher in January, propelled by large jumps in items used in new housing and nonresidential building renovations, according to an analysis of new federal figures released today by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials said that contractors were paying more for materials even as the pending federal spending “sequestration” threatens to cancel an estimated $4 billion worth of construction activity this year. “Contractors had to contend with huge leaps in prices for gypsum, wallboard and lumber, as well as significant increases in the cost of insulation and architectural coatings such as paint,” said … Read more

Turner School of Construction Management Coming to Greater Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Turner Construction Company announced its largest program in the area to date. The 2013 Turner School of Construction Management will be hosted by the DC Small Business Development Center at Howard University. Turner developed an 8-week curriculum to provide management training and certification to potential subcontractors.
