Construction Employment Increases Between July 2013, July 2014

Construction employment expanded in 223 metro areas, declined in 72 and was stagnant in 44 between July 2013 and July 2014, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Equipment Leasing and Finance Association's Survey of Economic Activity: Monthly Leasing and Finance Index

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association's Monthly Leasing and Finance Index, which reports economic activity from 25 companies representing a cross section of the $827-billion equipment finance sector, showed their overall new business volume for July was $7.8 billion, up 8 percent from new business volume in July 2013. Month over month, new business volume was down 13 percent from June. Swinerton Breaks Ground on Irvine Valley College Design-Build Classroom Building

IRVINE, Calif. — On Aug. 12, Swinerton Builders broke ground on South Orange County Community College District's first design-build project. The $9.1-million, two-story A400 building is located at Irvine Valley College. Swinerton's design-build team, which includes design architect DLR Group, expects construction to complete in 12 months, with occupancy by the college planned for fall semester 2015. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Square 452, LLC, a partnership of Gould Property Company and Oxford Properties Group, has awarded Clark a contract for the 600 Massachusetts Avenue project located between 6th and 7th Streets along Massachusetts Avenue Northwest in Washington, D.C. Clark will construct the core and shell of the 400,000-rentable-square-foot office building complete with a concourse level and three below-grade levels of parking. Brasfield & Gorrie Begins Construction of Wekiva Springs Addition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brasfield & Gorrie announced the company marked the start of construction on a $9.8-million addition at Wekiva Springs Center during a groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 19 in Jacksonville, Florida.
