WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a report on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's review of 20 heat-related enforcement cases from 2012 to 2013. OSHA's analysis, described in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, suggests that the primary risk factor for heat fatalities is the lack of acclimatization programs. Of the 13 enforcement cases that involved worker fatalities, nine of the deaths occurred in the first three days of working on the job, four of them occurring on the worker's first day. WOODBURY, Minn. — The city of Woodbury, Minnesota approved the site plan for City Place, the 100-acre property in Woodbury, located at Interstate 94 and Radio Drive. Sundt Construction Expands its Sacramento Team
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sundt Construction, Inc. recently hired Tim McDowell as field superintendent within its Sacramento office. McDowell comes to Sundt with more than eight years of experience working in the Southern California construction industry. Following his initial assignment with the University of Nevada, Reno Cooper Court Residence Hall project team in Reno, Nevada, McDowell will join the Kings County Courthouse project team in Hanford, California. He is responsible for managing the day-to-day construction activities, as well as planning, selecting and hiring the manpower required for the efficient execution of work.
AGC Releases July Construction Unemployment Rate, Spending
New government data today show the uneven nature of the construction industry's recovery, as the sector added 22,000 jobs in July, but suffered a pullback in spending in June, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.
