NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Brasfield & Gorrie announced the ahead-of-schedule completion of a $94-million student housing project at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The general contractor completed the new Warren and Moore residential colleges at Vanderbilt University 10 weeks ahead of schedule. Designed to replace six existing residence halls constructed in the 1960s, the two new residential colleges include 395,000 square feet and will house nearly 660 students. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Brasfield & Gorrie and joint venture partner BLOC Global Services announced the completion of a terminal modernization project at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Birmingham, Alabama. Brasfield & Gorrie and BLOC recently completed the second and final phase of the $201.6-million airport renovation and addition project, which totaled $168 million in construction costs. CDC Report Highlights Need for Heat Acclimatization
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a report on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's review of 20 heat-related enforcement cases from 2012 to 2013. OSHA's analysis, described in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, suggests that the primary risk factor for heat fatalities is the lack of acclimatization programs. Of the 13 enforcement cases that involved worker fatalities, nine of the deaths occurred in the first three days of working on the job, four of them occurring on the worker's first day. City of Woodbury Approves City Place
WOODBURY, Minn. — The city of Woodbury, Minnesota approved the site plan for City Place, the 100-acre property in Woodbury, located at Interstate 94 and Radio Drive.
