Architecture Billings Index Shows Slight Improvement

WASHINGTON, D.C.   — After starting out the year on a positive note, there was another minor increase in the Architecture Billings Index last month.   As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine- to 12-month lead time between architecture billings and construction spending.   The American Institute of Architects reported the February ABI score was 50.7, up slightly from a mark of 50.4 in January.   This score reflects an increase in design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).   The new projects inquiry index was 56.8, down from … Read more

HOUSTON, Texas — JE Dunn Construction welcomes Superintendent Richard Baccelli to their Houston, Texas office. Baccelli started his 30-year construction career in the U.S. Navy as a builder first class and deep sea diver in the Mobile Construction Battalion (Seabees). Since then, he has overseen a variety of projects on land including auto dealerships, retail facilities, municipal buildings and interior tenant finish-outs.

Gilbane Building Company Selected to Provide Construction Management Services for New Albany Capital Center

ALBANY, N.Y. — Gilbane Building Company has been selected by The Albany Convention Center Authority to provide construction management services for the new Albany Capital Center. The $66.5-million, 82,000-square-foot meeting and conference facility, which was approved by Governor Andrew Cuomo late last year, will be built in downtown Albany to fulfill the demand for additional assembly, exhibit and ballroom space in New York State's capitol. The first floor of the Albany Capital Center will consist of a 6,300-square-foot pre-function space, 25,000-square-foot multi-purpose room, as well as administrative and storage spaces.
