BROOKLYN, N.Y. — MySafetySign's “spot the hazard” campaign to promote awareness of dangerous workplace safety hazards has released its 11th blog post. The campaign, launched in April 2013, is an ongoing effort by MySafetySign to open a dialogue with construction workers, contractors and their communities. MySafetySign is an e-commerce site that produces official Occupational Safety & Health Administration signs. EarthCam Premieres 59-Month Construction Time-Lapse Movie to Commemorate Opening of the Bay Bridges
Witness more than 42,000 hours of construction in just four minutes with the release of EarthCam's official time-lapse movie for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. After many years of construction to retrofit and transform the Bay Bridge, project teams and contractors will be celebrating their hard work at the opening of the updated bridge. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission relied on 12 EarthCam construction cameras to document progress for the $6.4-billion bridge. National Association of Women in Construction and Joint Commission Ally With OSHA to Protect Workers
OSHA has formed an alliance with the National Association of Women in Construction to develop training resources to protect women in the construction industry. The agency also unveiled its new Women in Construction Web page, which addresses safety and health issues specific to female construction workers. Nonresidential Construction Index Remains Constant
RALEIGH, N.C. — FMI announced the release of the 2013 Third Quarter Nonresidential Construction Index report. The NRCI score of 60.3 is a .2-point improvement over Q2. Although the numbers aren"t drastically rising, the sustainability and continuing upward movement is encouraging. This score remains the highest score for the NRCI index since Q1 2009. The index for the overall economy rose to 72 points and the combined index sentiment for economies where panelists are doing business rose 3.2 points.
