ORLANDO, Fla. — The Central Florida office of Charles Perry Partners, Inc., Oviedo, Fla., was awarded a $10-million construction management contract to build Orange County Public Schools” new Spring Lake Elementary School Replacement in Ocoee, Fla. The 76,000-square-foot prototype elementary school designed by BRPH will feature a two-story administration/classroom building, cafeteria/kitchen, media center, resource rooms and skills labs to accommodate 625 student stations. Brasfield & Gorrie to Begin Construction on Burton Hills Office Building

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Brasfield & Gorrie was recently announced as the general contractor on the Burton Hills office building project in Green Hills. The three-story, 110,000-square-foot office building will sit atop a three-story, below-grade, 331-space parking deck. The project will also include a separate two-story, 60,000-square-foot, 120-car parking deck. The new facility will serve as the headquarters for Nashville-based AmSurg Corp. Suffolk Completes Construction of $400M Facility at UMass Med School

BOSTON, Mass. — Suffolk Construction, a   construction management firm, recently completed construction of the $400-million Albert Sherman Center, a 512,000-square-foot biomedical research and education facility located on the University of Massachusetts Medical School campus in Worcester, Mass. The state-of-the-art facility is the centerpiece of the state's multi-year life sciences initiative. Strong Surge for Architecture Billings Index

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the prognosis for the design and construction industry continues to improve, the Architecture Billings Index is reflecting its strongest growth since November 2007.   As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine- to twelve-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending.   The American Institute of Architects reported the January ABI score was 54.2, up sharply from a mark of 51.2* in December.   This score reflects a strong increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).   The new projects inquiry … Read more
