Brasfield & Gorrie Completes New Facility at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
Bethesda, Md.— Brasfield & Gorrie, in a joint venture with Walbridge, announced the completion of the new Main Exchange Complex at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This design-build project began in July 2011 and was completed in October 2012. Grand opening ceremonies were held by the commanding officer of Naval Support Activities Bethesda on Saturday, November 10, and the facility is now serving the campus. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Moves into Energy Efficient Office Building
SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers moved into new headquarters at Federal Center South Building 1202, a design-build project led by ZGF Architects LLP and Sellen Construction. The 209,000-square-foot, high-performance building transforms an industrial brownfield warehouse site into a 21st century workplace and sets a new standard for the marketplace. Architecture Billings Index Positive for Third Straight Month
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Billings at architecture firms accelerated to their strongest pace of growth since December 2010. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the Architecture Billings Index reflects the approximate nine to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the October ABI score was 52.8, up from the mark of 51.6 in September. This score reflects an increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).
