FORT MYERS, Fla.— Stevens Construction has started construction of a complex, multi-phase revitalization of Florida Hospital Tampa, announced Mark Stevens, company president. The master project includes both interior and exterior updates to the building. Exterior updates include 202,732 square feet of updated exterior vertical wall surface, the addition of over 30,000 square feet of impact-rated glass windows on the south, main and north towers and unique up-lighting features to illuminate the hospital exterior. Construction Material Costs Jump for Second Month in a Row in September
Price spikes for several key construction materials in September threaten to push contractors out of business, according to an analysis of federal figures released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Construction Sector Adds 5,000 Jobs Between August and September
Construction employers added 5,000 jobs in September while the industry’s unemployment rate hit 11.9 percent, according to an analysis of new federal data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials cautioned that construction employment has been relatively flat for more than a year as growing demand for residential and some commercial projects has been offset by declining public sector construction activity. “Despite the slight uptick in construction employment for the past month, the industry is a bit smaller than it was one year ago,” said Stephen E. BVSD and SolarCity Celebrate Installation of 5000 Solar Panels on 14 District Schools
BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder Valley School District, one of the greenest school districts in the country, and SolarCity, a national leader in clean energy services, announced the installation of more than 5,000 solar panels on 14 schools across the district. The district celebrated the 1.4-megawatt solar project on Monday, October 1, with a “flip the switch” ceremony at Foothill Elementary School, one of the 14 schools that is part of the project.
