PORTLAND, Maine — Consigli Construction Co., Inc. has begun exterior restoration of the Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Building 200, located at the VA Maine Healthcare System Campus in Augusta, Maine. The main hospital building at the VA, Building 200 is part of the oldest veteran’s facility in the country, opening in 1866. Currently a 67-operating bed facility with general medical, surgical, intermediate and mental health beds, as well as a 100-bed nursing facility. Associated Builders and Contractors Release Construction Backlog Indicator
Coconut Creek, Fla. — Associated Builders and Contractors released its Construction Backlog Indicator for the first quarter of 2012. CBI declined 5.4 percent from the previous quarter, dipping from 7.8 months to 7.4 months, but is slightly higher compared to the first quarter of 2011. CBI is a forward-looking economic indicator that measures the amount of construction work under contract to be completed in the future. AGC Releases Latest Employment Figures
Construction employment declined in 157 out of 337 metropolitan areas between April 2011 and April 2012, increased in 120 and stayed level in 60, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.
