TEMPE, Ariz. — The Sundt Foundation and Sundt Construction, Inc. employees surpassed the $1 million mark in funds raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Friday, April 13 during the Annual Mike Gaines Charity Golf Tournament hosted at the Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz. The golf tournament, which is the second of six MDA charity events scheduled in 2012, collected $48,562 – putting the total funds collected and donated through Mike Gaines Charity Fundraising Events at $1,003,522 since the inaugural tournament was held 11 years ago. AIA Releases IPD Survey Results, 12 Expanded IPD Case Studies

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Institute of Architects Center for Integrated Practice has released the results of the Integrated Project Delivery Awareness Survey that reveals that 84 percent of AIA members are aware of its market presence, 40 percent of members demonstrate understanding of IPD and 13 percent of members are using IPD methodologies for construction projects (a significant increase over 2010 AIA Firm Survey figures). The survey also found that teams engaged in IPD are finding satisfaction beyond expectations. VA Community Clinic Contract Will Expand Services to Arizona Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected the developer to build a new healthcare clinic in Gilbert, Ariz. The lease contract was awarded to McShane Development Company, LLC, Rosemont, Ill. The project will create 423 construction jobs, with an opening set for the spring of 2014. Once the new facility is accepted, VA will pay an annual rent of $1.95 million and will lease the facility from the developer for a 20-year term. Positive Conditions Persist for Architecture Billings Index

WASHINGTON, D.C. —The commercial sector continues to lead the Architecture Billings Index, which has remained in positive territory for the fifth consecutive month. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine- 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects reported the March ABI score was 50.4, following a mark of 51.0 in February. This score reflects a slight increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings).
