Construction spending inched down less than 0.1 percent in January, following a large upward revision in December and November, according to a new analysis of federal data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. AGC to Renovate Facility of Honolulu Charity
Construction charity organization AGC Charities, Inc. announced it will renovate the facility of a Honolulu-based charity group that supports families with seriously ill children as part of its annual Operation Opening Doors event in March. FMI Releases Nonresidential Construction Index for the First Quarter, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C., February 24, 2012 — FMI recently released its Nonresidential Construction Index report for the first quarter of 2012. The NRCI gained 7.8 points over last quarter to 58.1 this quarter. This positive move to start the New Year is not exactly the sign of a bull market for construction, but continuing confirmation that panelists believe that the construction activity is following the lead of the slowly improving economy. U.S. construction machinery exports gain 43% in 2011
U.S. construction equipment exports increased 43 percent in 2011 compared to the previous year for a total $23.5 billion of machinery shipped to other nations, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. This follows growth of 28 percent in 2010 after a 2009 decline of 38 percent in the depths of the recession. “Export sales continue to help U.S. construction equipment manufacturers stay open for business and sustain American jobs, especially with the domestic construction sector still recovering,” stated Al Cervero, AEM vice president construction sector.
