Construction Material Prices Inch Down in November

The amount contractors pay for a range of key construction materials edged down 0.1 percent in November but climbed 6.2 percent from a year earlier, outstripping the increase in contractors" bid prices for finished buildings, according to an analysis of producer price index figures released by the Associated General Contractors of America. AEM Releases Annual Construction Equipment Business Outlook

Construction equipment manufacturers anticipate overall business to close out 2011 with double-digit increases over last year in the U.S., Canada and worldwide. Growth is expected to continue but at a slower pace for 2012 through 2014, according to the annual business outlook survey of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. HILLSBORO, Texas — Gate Precast Company has been selected by the Balfour Beatty / McCarthy joint venture design-build team to provide a thermally efficient, pre-insulated, brick inlaid architectural precast concrete exterior wall system for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers" replacement hospital at Fort Hood. The new $503-million, 944,000-square-foot medical facility is designed by HKS Architects and Wingler & Sharp. The facility will replace the existing Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
