Construction Sector Adds 26,000 Jobs in September
Industry Unemployment Rate Drops to 13.3 Percent Construction employers added 26,000 jobs between August and September as the industry's unemployment rate dropped to 13.3 percent, according to an analysis of new federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. FMI Releases Third Quarter 2011 Construction Outlook Report
RALEIGH, N.C. — FMI, a provider of management consulting and investment banking to the engineering and construction industry, announces the release of the Construction Outlook: Third Quarter 2011 Report. Overall, in FMI's latest forecast for construction put in place calls for 2% growth in 2011 and 6% for 2012 to $886.2 billion in total construction. Greenbuild: Growing Green Building Market Supports 661,000 Green Jobs in the U.S.
TORONTO, Canada —Green jobs are now firmly established in the design and construction workforce, according to a new study released by McGraw-Hill Construction at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo this week in Toronto. According to the study, 35 percent of architects, engineers and contractors (AEC) report having green jobs today, representing 661,000 jobs and one-third of the industry workforce. World of Concrete to Host "Crews that Rock" Competition
Crews have always been a huge part of World of Concrete every year — and in 2012, WOC wants to show the world what great things these crews of the commercial construction/masonry industries have accomplished. WOC will host a “Crews that Rock!” competition sponsored by BASF. Crews will submit stories online along with images capturing projects completed in 2011. Projects can be a large mega-sized project, a small community-based endeavor, or a volunteer/humanitarian effort.
