Lend Lease Awarded Contract to Construct the $81.4M, State-of-the-Art Public Safety Campus

LARGO, Fla., — Lend Lease, through its legacy Bovis Lend Lease business, has been awarded the contract to build a brand new, state-of-the-art Public Safety Facilities and Centralized Communications Center for Pinellas County in Largo, Florida. The project has a total budget of $81.4M including all design, development, construction, furnishings and equipment. The campus will include an Emergency Operations Center, a 911 call center, EMS, and Sheriff’s Dispatch Center, and the Sheriffs administrative and operational headquarters.   This is the second major construction project the Lend Lease Tampa Office has been awarded this year. Construction Employment Increases in February, According to AGC

Construction employment increased in 141 out of 337 metropolitan areas between February 2010 and February 2011, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. AGC Names 39 Firms as Nation's Safest Construction Companies

The Associated General Contractors of America named 39 firms as the nation's safest construction companies. The association, which oversees the Construction Safety Excellence Awards, an annual ranking of construction safety programs, noted that these companies were recognized for the strength of their safety programs and overall safety performance during 2010. “For the construction industry, protecting employees is a top priority,” said Ted Aadland, the association's past president and the CEO of Portland, Oregon-based Aadland Evans Constructors, Inc. “Completed projects don"t mean anything if worker safety is compromised.” Aadland said these companies were selected because of their strong commitment to safety. … Read more
