The Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Center at San Francisco International Airport in California has been completed by Rosendin. The contractor was the Technology Systems Design-Builder and Systems Integrator on the multiphase $2.4B renovation, including designing and constructing a central concourse, pre- and post-security checkpoints, and ticketing and baggage handling system. Rosendin’s role included designing, constructing, integrating and commissioning several key technology systems to modernize the terminal. New Report Details Federal Funding Gap For Workforce Prep Despite Persistent Labor Needs
Only one-fifth of federal investments in postsecondary education support workforce development for fields like construction and manufacturing, while the rest of the money goes to “traditional” degree programs according to a new report on federal workforce funding levels. The report, produced by the Progressive Policy Institute, the Associated General Contractors of America and Procore, notes this funding gap is making it hard for many employers to find qualified workers to hire. The report, titled Building a Stronger Workforce: Federal Spending on Postsecondary Education and Training, notes that of the $139.5 billion the federal government spends annually on postsecondary education, only $28.2 billion goes to workforce education and training programs. Tufts Medicine, Acadia Healthcare Break Ground on Behavioral Health Hospital To Serve Greater Boston Area
Tufts Medicine and Acadia Healthcare Company held a ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on a 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Malden, Massachusetts. Slated to open in fall 2025, the hospital will be a center of excellence serving patients of all ages. The new hospital will offer the latest in inpatient behavioral healthcare and intensive outpatient programs and providing the continuum of care needed to support patients and their families. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor and Stengel Hill Architecture is the architect for the project. The new hospital will also serve as a teaching hospital for psychiatry and other behavioral health professionals, training students and residents from the Tufts University School of Medicine. ABC: Construction Materials Prices Decrease
Construction input prices decreased 0.9% in May compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index data. Nonresidential construction input prices decreased 0.8% for the month. Overall construction input prices are 2.1% higher than a year ago, while nonresidential construction input prices are 2.2% higher. Prices decreased in 2 of the 3 energy subcategories last month. Crude petroleum prices were down 8.7%, while unprocessed energy materials prices decreased 6.6%.
