AGC’s Annual Convention Call for Presentations is Now Open

The Associated General Contractors of America is accepting proposals from speakers for its 2025 Annual Convention, taking place from April 8–10 in Columbus, Ohio. AGC is seeking dynamic educational sessions that encourage opportunities for attendee interaction through open audience discussions, hands-on activities and group work. The conventi0n welcomes a broad array of topics for consideration, aiming to resonate with, inspire and stimulate meaningful dialogue among our key participant groups. Sundt Safety Program Wins Two AGC Awards

Sundt Construction’s Stop The STCKY program was awarded first place for Innovation at the 2024 Associated General Contractors of America Annual Convention. The firm also took second place in the heavy civil category for the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards. The program addresses how the industry’s recordable injury rate has gone down over the last decade, but fatalities have plateaued. This year marks Sundt’s 12th Construction Safety Excellence Award from the AGC. Sundt’s safety program has been recognized twice with the AGC CSEA Grand award for safety, in 2006 and 2016. National Construction Charity, Sierra Pacific West & Make-a-wish San Diego Unveil New ‘Man Cave’ for Young Man In La Jolla

AGC Charities, Sierra Pacific West and Make-A-Wish San Diego teamed up to lead dozens of volunteers to build a dedicated “man cave” for puzzles and hobbies to fulfill a local boy’s wish. The volunteer workday in La Jolla, California involved completing and painting the standalone, climate-controlled man cave in the boy’s back yard. All of the work was done free of charge. AGC: Construction Employment Rises, Job Levels Reach Near Record Levels

Construction employment increased in 231 or 65% of 358 metro areas between January 2023 and January 2024, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of new government employment data. Association officials noted the industry ended the month with more than 400,000 job openings nationwide, suggesting that many more metros would have experienced employment increases if enough qualified workers were available. Construction Employment Rises In 40 States & D.C.

Construction employment increased in 40 states and the District of Columbia in October from a year earlier, while 22 states added construction jobs from September to October, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.
