Big-D Construction has acquired CFC Construction. CFC Construction has served Colorado for 45 years. Under new ownership, the company will continue to be locally managed and operate under the same name. Chairman and founder, EJ Olbright, will continue in his role with CFC, along with CFC President Pat Smith.
Johnson Carlier Changes Name to Big-D Construction Southwest
Johnson Carlier, an affiliate of Big-D Construction Corp., has changed its name to Big-D Construction Southwest. With an established presence in Arizona for over 100 years, the evolution from Johnson Carlier to Big-D Construction Southwest will allow the regional office to better serve its customers through market expansion and diversification by adopting the entire Big-D project and team resumes in key market sectors including industrial, multi-family, aviation, higher education and more. The change also opens the door for career growth and better recruitment.
Kroger’s Customer Fulfillment Center Celebrates Ribbon Cutting
The Kroger Company opened its newest Customer Fulfillment Center at the end of July in Dallas, Texas. The project team included Big-D Construction – National Food & Beverage and Architectural Nexus. The center will leverage advanced robotics technology and creative solutions to redefine the customer experience for customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The warehouse is a 492,000-square-foot, steel frame building constructed with insulated metal panels and includes refrigerated and non-refrigerated areas. The two-story building features four mezzanines, 31,000 square-feet of office space, and a 26,000 square-foot freezer, plus vehicle maintenance and van wash buildings.
Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New North Ogden Public Safety Building
Big-D Construction and partners including the city of North Ogden broke ground on a public safety building in Utah. The project, awarded to Big-D Construction and JRCA Architects in 2021, is a $12.4-million design-build project. At 25,000 square feet, the facility is a single-story building and will be home to the North Ogden Justice Court, police department, code enforcement, animal control and a new holding facility. Estimated completion on the building is slated for August 2023.
