Collaboration, Prefabrication Keep Research and Academic Building Project on Track
The future of medical research and scientific study on the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center Campus, located in California, now resides in a new academic building. The UCSF Research and Academic Building consists of a 175,000-square-foot research and academic building, as well as a roadway project that is now part of the ZSFG campus. Contractors Unite to Create Inaugural ‘Construction Inclusion Week’ Oct. 18-22
In 2020, six general contractors created a consortium, Time for Change, with a single purpose: to identify ways to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the construction industry. The shared effort by Gilbane Building Company, DPR Construction, Turner Construction Company, Mortenson, McCarthy Building Companies and Clark Construction Group resulted in organizing an industry-wide Construction Inclusion Week which will be held Oct. 18-22. Construction Complete on New $130,000-SF Addition to Orem Family Fitness Center
Construction is complete on the Orem Family Fitness Center remodel — a 130,000-square-foot addition that has opened in perfect timing with summer of 2021. Big-D Construction served as general manager on the project located in Orem, Utah. The new center features a multitude of new amenities including an elevated running track, racquetball courts, an indoor swimming facility, a bouldering wall and new locker rooms. While the majority of the project was a 96,000-square-foot addition, roughly 32,000 square feet of the existing facility underwent a significant remodel.
