Design-Build-Led Seismic Renovation of Robert A. Young Federal Building Complete

An seismic renovation of the Robert A. Young Federal Building—one of downtown St. Louis, Missouri’s largest office buildings—has been completed to improve the historic structure’s seismic performance. The McCarthy Building Companies’-led Design-Build project team included Gensler (lead designer and architect of record), Etegra (associate architect) and Thornton Tomasetti (structural engineer). Other project team members included William Tao & Associates, Integrated Facility Services, Aschinger Electric and Wilson’s Structural Steel. Ak-Chin Hotel and Casino Expansion Receives Design-Build Award

The Design-Build Institute of America announces its 2019 Design-Build Project/Team Award Winners, including the Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel and Casino Expansion, located in Phoenix, Arizona, which has received a National Design-Build Merit Award in the Rehabilitation/Renovation/Restoration category. The project will also go on to compete for a National Award of Excellence and Project of the Year to be announced at DBIA’s Design-Build Conference & Expo Awards Ceremony in November. Modular Building Completed for Temporary Flying Squadron Facility

A 17,284-square-foot Temporary Flying Squadron Facility for the 33d Flying Training Squadron at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma is complete. Ramtech Building Systems served as Design-Build firm on the project. The single-story modular building complex will be used for pilot training as part of a program aimed at increasing the graduation rate to address the shortage of pilots that exists within the U.S. Air Force.
