West-MEC Breaks Ground on $13.5M Expansion Project

Western Maricopa Education Center, a career technical education school district serving students in the Phoenix, Arizona West Valley, recently broke ground on a $13.5-million expansion of its Northeast Campus. The expansion will add two new training facilities, update equipment and create more space to serve additional students. The facility is a 16,500-square-foot advanced manufacturing and welding building that will feature an advanced manufacturing lab and cleanroom, both outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. Construction Begins on Spelman College’s Center for Innovation and the Arts

Construction has started for Spelman College’s Center for Innovation & the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor on the project. The 84,000-square-foot education center will house Spelman College’s creative and scientific disciplines in one dynamic space. The building will serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary interaction, and will bring together a vibrant community of innovators, collaborators, artists, musicians and scientists. A Forum invites participation from multiple disciplines and a Hive, or network of connected spaces, encourages interdisciplinary experimentation, collaboration, active play and research. The $75-million project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.
