Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport’s $28M Terminal Addition Completes Construction

General contractor McCarthy Building Companies recently completed construction of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport’s (Gateway Airport) new 30,000-square-foot, five-gate terminal modernization project. Located in metro Phoenix, Arizona, the approximately $28-million project replaces a 14-year-old temporary passenger terminal annex, originally purchased in 2008 to accommodate airport’s increased flight traffic. The newly completed terminal project provides a larger, modern, energy-efficient and ADA-enhanced commercial passenger facility designed to accommodate additional future growth. McCarthy Building Companies Inc.’s Renewable Energy team recently reached peak construction workforce on the Sun Streams 4 solar construction project, a 377 MWdc PV and 300 MWac/1200 MWh solar and 300MWac battery storage facility being developed by Longroad Energy, a U.S.-based renewable energy developer, owner and operator. McCarthy was selected as the engineering, procurement, construction contractor for the project, located approximately 40 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona. The University of Arizona Health Sciences has selected the design-build team of McCarthy + SmithGroup to develop the Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies, or CAMI, a biomedical research hub focused on developing biological therapies that stimulate or suppress the immune system to fight disease, located in Phoenix, Arizona.
