Poettker Construction has announced the 2024 recipients of its NextGen program. NextGen is a collaboration between Poettker and its education clients to connect students and teachers with the construction of their facilities and unlock interactive opportunities for students to build their futures while advancing communities. Central School District #104 held a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 14, to kick off the additions and renovations project at its Joseph Arthur Middle School in Breese, Illinois. Poettker Construction is serving as the construction manager and Cordogan Clark the designer for 26,900 square feet of building expansions and 10,900 square feet of light renovations to the district’s middle school campus. Poettker Construction Company’s Vice President of Field Operations Tom Albers will retire after 43 years. Albers’ retirement coincides with the company’s 43rd anniversary. Albers joined Poettker as project superintendent in 1980 after completing his carpentry apprentice program. By 1986, Albers was named vice president of field operations responsible for providing overall leadership and technical direction for field operations, including site safety and quality, continuous field technology improvements and innovations in construction processes that helped Poettker expand regionally and enter new markets. Poettker Construction raised $52,000 in its annual golf classic for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois. This year, the company surpassed its annual contribution goal and expanded the event by offering morning and afternoon golf sessions. Sixty golf teams participated, which helped the company exceed its goal of supporting the mentorship organization. Proceeds will support the organization’s mission of assisting children in recognizing their potential and building better futures. Since 1980, the organization has helped thousands of youth face adversity and develop mentorship in Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties.
Poettker Construction Breaks Ground on Distribution Center and Warehouse Complex
Poettker Construction broke ground on buildings 4 and 7 for the Gateway 85 development initiative in Gastonia, North Carolina. NorthPoint Development selected the company as the general contractor for Phase II of the project, which includes the construction of two distribution center and warehouse buildings totaling over 945,000 square feet. Phase II of the campus includes Building 4, a 241,114-square-foot single rear load warehouse, and Building 7, a 705,234-square-foot cross dock warehouse.
