McCownGordon Receives Grand Award; Brian Schrader Honored as Safety Professional

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — McCownGordon Construction was selected for the Grand Award from among all divisions presented by The Builders’ Association, Missouri Department of Labor Standards, Kansas Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Kansas City Area Office. The Grand Award honoree is selected from the first place award winners in various categories. McCownGordon won the First Place Award in the General Contractor Division 300,001 – 500,000 work hours. Brian Schrader, safety director for McCownGordon, was named the Mark Banden Safety Professional of the Year in the 9th Annual Builders’ Association Safety Excellence Awards Program.

Schrader, winner of the Mark Banden Safety Professional of the Year Award, has been with McCownGordon since 2007. According to Brett Gordon, president of McCownGordon, “Brian truly exemplifies our culture of safety. For Brian, the most important thing is the safety of his job sites and to achieve this firm’s number one goal: that not only our employees, but all those working on the project, go home safely to their families every night.” The Mark Banden Safety Professional of the Year is awarded to the safety professional who demonstrates an outstanding safety and health leadership within his/her organization and profession.

The purpose of The Builders’ Association Safety Excellence Awards Program is to recognize member companies on a local basis with elite safety and health programs. The program closely and confidentially examines each candidate’s commitment to safety, occupational health management and risk management. Judges look for evidence of company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control and safety program innovation.
