NORFOLK, Va. — Swedish home furnishings store IKEA hopes to break ground on its new Hampton Roads location this fall. The company announced its plans to open the 331,000-square-foot Norfolk, Virginia store last year. The company had initially planned to begin construction as early as this spring, but ran into unexpected development issues. Because the land backs up to a reservoir, IKEA will build a parking facility and elevate the site for underground stormwater retention. Skanska has signed a contract with the University of South Florida to build the Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute tower in Tampa, Florida. The contract is worth $41 million. The new education and research tower will be located in an urban setting of the downtown area of the city. With about 409,028 square feet, the building will consist of an anticipated 14 levels. Construction will begin in August 2017, and the project is expected to be complete in December 2019.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Ground was broken recently for the Temple Beth El of Boca Raton, Florida construction and renovation of its Schaefer Family Campus. Kaufman Lynn Construction will oversee the $11-million project that is expected to be completed in phases with the first phase to be completed this fall and overall completion scheduled for late 2019.
