FALLS CHURCH, Va. — HITT Contracting Inc. delivered a new high-end, ultra-luxury Capella Washington, D.C., Georgetown hotel just as the cherry blossom season kicked into high gear. Located in the heart of Georgetown overlooking the C&O Canal, the hotel is a stunning example of adaptive reuse of the former American Trial Lawyers Association headquarters originally built in 1963. The new $50-million hotel is owned by Castleton Hotel Partners I, LLC and was developed by affiliate Castleton Holdings, LLC. The owners are aiming to achieve a six-star rating.
HITT undertook the construction renovation which included 49 new guest rooms and suites, a new commercial kitchen, white table cloth dining in the Grill Room and the new Rye Bar. The 70,000-square-foot project also included the addition of a new rooftop lounge with an infinity pool overlooking the Potomac River. The project required major structural modifications to reposition the building from office space into a hotel.
New high-end finishes added throughout the property include onyx walls, marble and mosaic tile showers and plaster crown moldings. The new lobby features a marble foyer, custom furniture and antique parquet floors. The interior and custom furniture were designed by Peter Silling, of the German-based firm Peter Silling & Associates.
“I”ve been building and renovating hotels for 15 years, and the attention to detail puts Capella in the ultra-luxury level of hotels,” said Peter Lanfranchi, senior vice president of HITT’s Hospitality sector.
