“This milestone celebrates our completion of the Hall of Fame structure and acknowledges that the project is on schedule to complete in time for an August 2014 opening,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Division Manager Chris Britton.
In homage to the sport, part of the attraction's façade will resemble a football. Upon entering the building, visitors will be exposed to an atrium that serves as a gateway to various exhibits within the facility. Among its amenities, the College Football Hall of Fame will feature restaurant and retail spaces and a 45-yard indoor turf field that can be used for event rentals.
The College Football Hall of Fame is the third major entertainment complex constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie in Atlanta. The company built the world's largest aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, in 2005, and completed an 80,000-square-foot expansion of the facility in 2010. Brasfield & Gorrie also constructed the concrete structure of the Georgia Dome in 1991.
Brasfield & Gorrie teamed with Cousins Properties-Gude Management, tvsdesign and BenchMark Management to construct the new attraction for Atlanta Hall Management. The project began in February 2013 and it is expected to be completed in August of 2014.
The project is seeking LEED Silver certification.
