BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Brasfield & Gorrie recently announced the company is joining with the National Association of Women in Construction in observing Women in Construction Week March 6-12.
Established by NAWIC, the week aims to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry, to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
Women have played key roles in Brasfield & Gorrie since its inception. In fact, one of the company’s five founders, Imogene Powell, served as an early pioneer among women in the industry.
As part of the company’s observation of Women in Construction Week, Brasfield & Gorrie will host events and activities at its regional offices. Several of the company’s offices, including those in Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Orlando, Florida and Raleigh, North Carolina, are hosting conversations with top female leaders, who will share their insights and perspectives as women in the construction industry. Other regional offices are joining with community partners to support Women in Construction Week events and completing community service projects in celebration of the week.
In Birmingham, Brasfield & Gorrie is partnering with the Birmingham chapter of NAWIC and Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham to construct a home for a local family. During the volunteer work day on Friday, March 11, the firm’s employees will join NAWIC members to complete a wide range of tasks on the home construction project.
