Strong Man Super Fire-Retardant Tarps Stand Up to the Elements

Serving the construction industry in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia since 1969, George L. Wilson & Company is a part of the history in Pennsylvania’s infrastructure. They are also a longtime client and friend of Strong Man.

Situation: SkyVue is the largest open, active new construction project in the greater Pittsburgh area. Located in the heart of Oakland, an ideal central location close to public transportation, shopping and other amenities, the project required the highest level of diligence in keeping the jobsite and public safe. George L. Wilson & Company was hired to work on the new 14-story luxury apartment building and called in Strong Man to ensure that safety was a priority and the work got done on time.

Challenges: The real expense on this type of project is labor costs to install the tarps. If the tarps fail, costs pile up—downtime on the job, cost of new tarps, cost to install new tarps. Given the elevation at which the work was being done, the job also required a tarp strong enough to stand up to high winds and the elements.

Solution: Strong Man Super Fire-Retardant tarps. The fire-retardant fabric (constructed of 14-by-14 woven reinforced poly with double-stitched hems and a one-inch D-ring with reinforced webbing sewn into each corner of the tarp) meets standards set by the National Fire Protection Association. In addition, the grommets and D-rings match up on like sized tarps, which makes tying off and installing the tarps easy.

Result: “I look at using Strong Man products as saving money on the job,” says Bill Fisher, account Manager with George L. Wilson & Company. “By purchasing a quality weather enclosure that is less likely to fail, and knowing Strong Man keeps their tarps in stock and ships same day, I know I can get everything I need quickly and get my jobsite up and running.”
